Hello from south of the border;
Several of us fished for humpy's and springs off the bank in the lower river about 2 miles below Mt. Vernon yesterday. We were on a stretch of river that should have produced fish, but we did not have any luck.
A couple of boats in the area did hook into some fish, but it was hit and miss. The talk is that the main humpy run will not be in the river for another 2 weeks, unless we get sufficient rain.
We did some exploring and found the south fork of the skagit to be promising. There is a good boat launch in conway and we will put in there in about 2 weeks. A friend has had very good luck on this portion of the river for coho and humpys, so we are going to fish it for the first time.
I hope to have a more promising fish story for next time.
