Subject: FN0842-Aboriginal Salmon: Economic (Beach Seine) Fishing Opportunity - Area 29 - Lower Fraser Area
Area 29 (Port Mann Bridge to Hope Bridge (mainstem Fraser River))
Beach Seines open 07:00 hours to 17:00 hours daily from October 21 to October
23, 2009. An extension is possible if the allocation is not harvested within
the times noted above.
Only individuals designated by the Aitchelitz, Chawathil, Katzie, Kwah Kwah
Apilt, Matsqui, Peters, Popkum, Shxwhay, Shxw’ow’hamel, Skawahlook, Skowkale,
Soowahlie, Squiala, Sumas, Tzeachten, Union Bar, Yakweakwioose, and the Yale
Indian Bands are authorized to participate in this fishery.
This fishery is targeting 32,717 chum salmon based on a current run size of
1.175M. All efforts and attempts shall be made to return all non target species
to the water alive. All viable sockeye, steelhead, wild coho salmon and
sturgeon must not be retained.
All salmon retained under the authority of this licence must be transported to
the nearest landing station and made available for inspection. Fishers are
advised to contact their local bands for a copy of the conditions of this
licence.
There is a mandatory requirement for an observer to be present at all times
during the fishery to record information on retained catch and releases.
