Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Subject: FN0938-ABORIGINAL - Invertebrates: Cockles - Area 3 - Nisga'a Domestic Harvest Opening

Under agreement with the Nisga’a Lisims Government, Fisheries and Oceans Canada
is opening portions of Subarea 3-14 for the domestic harvest of cockles
(Clinocardium nuttallii) for members of the Nisga’a First Nation only. Recent
acceptable biotoxin monitoring results permit this opening.

Harvest conditions and locations are described under the terms of the Nisga’a
Annual Fishing Plan and harvest is limited to members of the Nisga’a First
Nation only. This opening is effective immediately, until 23:59 hours March
31, 2010 pending continued acceptable biotoxin monitoring results.

Fish harvesters are advised there are contaminated closures in the vicinity at
Granby Bay and Perry Bay. Information on specific closure areas is available
