    Default Shore fishing in Tofino

We're heading to Tuff town and I got the idea in my head to fish for bottom fish from shore. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it in Tofino? We are there for 10 nights and plan on walking many of the awesome trails in the area. What would be a good lure for this? Buzz bomb? Maybe I can use my surfboard! Paddle out there and catch a nice Ling Cod ! I've fished from a surf board in Mexico before. Stay tuned!!!

just been searching for the regs. THey should make it easier to find out what is open. Like really. You gotta look at the regs, then go to the other site for in season changes. THere should be a search box. Put the species, put the area, and it should say if you can fish or not. I spent a half hour and looks to me like it is open all year in Tofino (section 124) for rockfish and ling cod.

We spent 10 days in Tofino. We hiked some new trails. Every hike we did I carried my fishing rod. We did the walk down to schooner cove. At the beginning of the hike I spoke with a first nations guy. He was very friendly. He said if I hiked out to the point I might have some luck. It wasn't possible because of the high'ish tide. We also hiked the trail from Florencia Bay to Wikkininnish Beach. This was a really nice hike 2.2 km one way. We ended up at a place where I could cast from the point. It looked nice, but no bites. I got snagged once and broke off and that was all the action I had. I spoke with a knowledgeable guy at the Fireside Grill, and he says it's pretty much impossible to catch any fish from shore unless it's in the summer/fall when the coho come to town. Oh well. I tried.

I have been diving off the hot springs on Meares Island and it was loaded with rockfish. Not sure if it is a closed area though but it sure is a pretty spot.

Where did you stay, Driller? Always had my eye on the Wickaninnish Inn if I could kill some family members and inherit their wealth.

Years ago we took the kids to Tofino for a summer trip, I recall a group of people,a family, sitting on one one rock outcropping and fishing for ocean perch I believe. They seemed to having some luck. Same thing down the coast in Cali and Oregon. Just gotta watch for the Rogue wave.

We stayed at the Pacific Sands Beach Resort. You'd probably only need to Off one of em to be able to afford this place. It's nice! Ocean view, clean, nicely equipped kitchens, fireplace, flat screen.
