..this one from the weekend didn't break my my rod but just about broke my patience....took about half an hour to get a tap and a miss...took another half hour or so to get a second chance that I didn't miss...
I so wish i got it on video... Then everyone could see how ridiculous i looked fighting that fish with half a rod lol. Ill try to remember that for the next time i break my rod in half and continue to fish.
This is my second successful season of steelhead and I had sooo much fun with the countless jumps and 8lb leader on this wild beauty!
No takes on my last seasons go to jig(white/pink + pink worm). Switched up to the blade, cast once in the same run and bam! Even if it was hatchery, far too magnificent to cut up, but that's just me.
I've posted these pics somewhere else on this site, but these are two great stories worthy of sharing--
As I slog through the long winter in the mountains, thoughts always turn to summer and chasing salmon in Rivers Inlet, BC.
The first photo is a gal named Debbie from Ontario. ..NEVER caught a salmon before---
This is akin to making a hole-in-one on your first day on a course.
She successfully boats (and releases) and absolute MONSTER---83 lbs, thank you very much.
The second photo is priceless--little Natty--(Nathaniel) goes up with dad and uncle, and his first salmon goes over 50-
Guide Riley is holding the beast, while dad and uncle stand in disbelief,
and Natty is sporting the very definition of a shit-eating grin...
