Welcome to the forum lure!
The Okanagan area has many options for fishing and it is close to all other options in the Province. My advice to you is to go and visit Nick or savis at Trout Water Supplies on Leckie in Kelowna. If you're into spincasting I would have the following lures on hand: a black Panther Martin spinner, a small frog pattern Hot Shot, a small black Kwikfish with silver specs, and a plain old hook and bobber combo baited with a worm. Okanagan Lake rquires the use of single barbless hooks so pinch them down or you will risk a fine if caught. Find an area to cast out where there is a drop off. If you're fishing for rainbows, stay clear of sandy bottomed structure or you will be catching coarse fish like Northern Pike Minnows. Concentrate your efforts in town on Okanagan Lake (creek mouths - Powers Creek, Bear Creek are good spots) and Wood Lake. Duck Lake has only coarse fish and is very weedy. If you do a 'search' of this site or on the Internet you'll find tons of info. There really are no secrets baits or lures or spots. Just get out an explore, that's the best way to learn.
