Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Subject: FN0647-Aboriginal Economic Demonstration Fishing Opportunity - Okanagan Nation Alliance- Osoyoos Lake

Current projections of escapement of Okanagan Sockeye past Wells Dam exceed
290,000. This escapement allows for limited directed economic fisheries to
occur as per the 2010/2011 Integrated Fisheries Management Plan – Southern BC
Salmon.

Fishery opened at 06:00 hours August 9, 2010 on Osoyoos Lake for a single
vessel (purse seine gear in week 1 and troll gear in week 2). The fishery is
anticipated to continue until August 19th, 2010 and has a target catch of 5 000
sockeye salmon. All efforts and attempts shall be made to return all non
target species to the water alive.

Only individuals designated by the Okanagan Nation Alliance are authorized to
participate in this fishery. The following bands are members of the Okanagan
Nation Alliance:

-Okanagan Indian Band,
-Westbank First Nation,
-Upper Nicola Indian Band,
-Osoyoos Indian Band,
-Upper Similkameen Indian Band,
-Lower Similkameen Indian Band,
-Penticton Indian Band

Fish harvesters are advised to contact their local bands for a copy of the
conditions of this fishing licence.

It is mandatory that all salmon retained under the authority of this licence
must be transported to the landing site and made available for inspection.
