    Default Olympic peninsula rivers

Ok, so....I have never fished these rivers, but have read up on them somewhat. Now I know we have some washington residents here, and some BC members that fish these rivers. Any favorites? Any quirks to the regs that a BC angler might not expect?

quirks in the regs. You can still kill wild steelhead on the pennisula. Check for "selective gear" rules. This is a timing thing and will feel a lot like what you are used to when fishing in BC for single barbless, no bait ,etc. When it's not in place you can use multiple barbed hooks while fishing (2 hooks with a ghost shrimp, etc.). If fishing on Indian reservation waters you don't need a license, there is no daily limit on steelhead. It's pretty much just have at it, feels kind of strange when fishing these rivers. Rivers may close to steelhead fishing but remain open to spring chinook fishing (happens on the Sol Duc I believe). Most of the more popular rivers have crowds similar to the Vedder and having some sort of floating craft (drift boat, pontoon boat) is an advantage. Don't take a sled. People on th epennisula just hate them and will cut up your trailer while fishing and leave you with nothing when you return. Just a few things I have observed down there. One last one, it's cheaper to buy a license to fish Washington State than it is to buy a BC resident license here.
