Big thing to watch out for if you are planning on some bigger water is the degree of bottom you get...mine is only a 10 degree in an 18ft Alumaweld Intruder. Love the boat, but in the bigger waves it can be a little teeth wrenching. With an outboard jet you could always run a motor jack plate to lower the motor and convert back to a regular outboard if you so wish. That way you don't need to run the jet in the ocean and could run it as a conventional outboard. Guess you just need to really decide how much of the ocean you'll really run and how high a prioity it is for you.
Don't rule out buying across the line...easy to bring a boat back across.
