This is the second and most critical Rally being held to let the Lieberals know we do NOT agree with their selling our wildlife off to the highest bidder!
I WILL be there, and Strongly Suggest that ALL who disapprove of this Sellout do the same!!
We have to stand up to this BS.
We will soon have to pay some foreign business owner to hunt or fish on what was once public land.
True that. The GOABC have actually earmarked all non-classified waters within their tenures for requiring a "guide" (themselves of course) to fish them. This along with a LOT of other intrusions into BC Residents' ability to enjoy our own back country. This is just the proverbial "tip of the iceberg".
We best be getting the message across, that access, and our access to our OWN Resources Will Not Be Compromised for the sake of a pittance of dollars!
Be There Folks! Time to Stand Up for Ourselves!
We regularly hunt and fish in areas where guide outfitters are operating.
I have never had any issues with them.
It will be a cold day in hell before I let them push me out the woods.
There is a huge population of outdoor users in my neck of the woods and they are not as civilized as you folks on the Island when it comes to being locked out of the bush.
Gates and such don't last up here.
There was an article in the Kamloops paper on Friday that the ministry had backed off on the number of animals proposed for allocation the guide outfitters.
Said it was due to pressure by concerned resident hunters.
Didn't give numbers but sound like it may be a win for the good guys.
Many firmly believe this was the intent from the beginning. Introduce a set of splits that were completely unacceptable for anyone not a guide / outfitter, then "adjust" to the fallback position when questioned on those.
It's NOT the numbers involved, it IS the Ratios. Under this latest "plan" outfitters will still see up to 40% of allowable harvest of some species - notably those considered "rare" enough to be on the Limited Entry Hunting list. Still greatly reducing opportunities for Resident Hunters. Typical Smoke & Mirrors from this government.
The pressure is beginning to be noted, however their response is Seriously Lacking. If anything, it's time to Increase that pressure if we want to see anything along the lines of "Fair" from the Lieberals and their GOABC bedmates...
The Rally is Very Much a GO! Be there if you hunt or fish in this Province and wish to continue to do so!
Minister Thomson issued a press release yesterday regarding these matters:
"After more than 10 years of
Reviewand negotiations, it’s time to put the issue of wildlife-harvest allocation behind us and have some certainty....
Now that a decision is made..."
Full Story here: http://www.castanet.net/news/Comment...-fair-minister
Obviously in his little mind, it's a "done deal".
Simply Thomson blowing more smoke up our collective asses.
Between him, Ellis (President of the GOABC) and other Lieberal members, so many different sets of "effected numbers" have been tossed out there that it is quite obvious none of them have any real handle on the matter. Or if they do, this is simply a tactic by design to confuse the issue even further.
The issue isn't really focused on "numbers", despite their cries that it is. The Real matter of concern relates to RATIOS of the split (sound increasingly similar to the situation we face with the Feds regarding halibut yet?) wherein outfitters will be afforded up to 40+ % of the annual allowable harvest - and interestingly enough, the "rarer" the animal (as in the greatest LEH subscription numbers) the Higher the allotment ratio is being spun towards the outfitters (GREATLY Reducing the odds of any Resident ever drawing in their lifetimes for many of those hunts). Just as concerning is the Lieberal's intent to Legislate the splits they have come up with for their conspirators.
For conspirators they certainly appear to be. What else would you call the "donations" from the GOABC directly into Lieberal coffers preceding the announcements that so greatly favor their interests (over $ 100K and counting)? Or perhaps the Lieberal government tossing back in excess of $ 380,000 tax dollars to the GOABC's war chest?
Even if one were to simply buy into the numbers game, detailed analysis points out the fact that moose, in one region alone, will realize a reduction of > 120 animals from the Resident's access, and gifted to the commercial outfitters. Smoke & Mirrors indeed!
Finally, it isn't simply the "decisions" being unilaterally made by the Minister on behalf of his GOABC supporters that is at issue. The whole damn process is Flawed through to it's very core. Terms such as collusion, corruption, lack of integrity, and questionable behavior abound. This latest attempt to defuse the controversy was intentionally timed to hit the streets on the cusp of the Protest Rally scheduled for this coming Monday at the legislature buildings in Victoria. It is a Complete FAIL, and Thomson's arrogance in light of thousands upon thousands expressing their very real concerns flies in the face of reality. Perhaps not such a bad thing after all - this condescending release has lit a fire under many every day folks once again, and more are climbing on-board and planning to attend the Rally as a consequence.
This is a Very Important Issue Folks! Already the GOABC has noted their intent to impose guiding requirements for Fishing on NON-Classified waters that fall within their tenures (public lands btw), and are further seeking the right to treat their tenures (again, public lands) as their own Private lands. Starting to get the picture yet?
This should concern each and every one of us who uses the back-country - even if only for fishing, hiking and camping.
The Lieberals are poised to sell us out. The best we can do at this point is ensure the Rally is well attended, and deliver the message that we Will Not Sit Idly By and let our access to our own resources be sold off to the highest bidders!
I'll be wandering down from Port with a full truck, followed by several vans and other trucks. A bit costly alright, but none of us are willing to face the consequences of doing nothing!
See you in Victoria!!
