    Default Hello

Hi there, I just move to the gulf islands from fort st john. Love it here but is there any decent fishing around the southern gulf islands? I'm interested in salmon or cod. What times of year might be good to know too lol.

    What Island? Lots of opportunity.
It'll depend on when and where and a boat...(for the most part)
Some salties will pipe in soon.

    Good luck.

Yeah you got it. Pender. We're on a sailboat but can tour around and troll pretty good in our 10 ft RIB. Went out a few days ago (circumnavigated South Pender) but never got no bites or saw anyone else fishing. Been getting lots of crab though.

You need to be fishing quite deep before all the migratory fish show up, you using downriggers?

I've got a deep six that I tried out on that little excursion. Seems to work pretty well. I let out between 20 to 25 strips but not really sure how that translates to depth with the deep six.
