This was the coho derby weekend at Port Renfrew Marina. I don't go in derbies but was out with a few buddies anyways. There seemed to be enough coho to keep people busy, we had a slow morning but the afternoon picked up real good. All fish on green and white spoon and green flasher, not a hit on...

Help! This is maybe a tall order but I've got a friend driving out this weekend for a couple of days of fishing with me on my little 16 ft runabout. I'm in Yellow Point (Nanaimo) and have not had any success lately. Just some grilse. I'm fairly new to trolling the salt so I'm really...

Went out Saturday and had Sockeye swarming around the boat. Landed one, lost two. Went out Sunday, very few Sockeye visable; however, lost one at the boat. Landed two White Springs: 10lb and 26lb. Both at 50-60 feet on Sockeye gear. Lots of grilse so keep an eye on your gear for that little wiggle.

Just got back from a week in Rennie with my oldest son. This was my first trip over there, so it was a learning experience. To sum it up, the spring fishing was slow. Not a lot coming in, and most weren't that large that I did see landed. The Coho fishing just started to heat up the last couple...

Have any of you been or know anyone who's fished from Port Alberni in the Alberni Inlet in the past week? Wonder if it's picking up with the recent rainfall. I'd like to get out there this weekend. Looking for any silvery units especially springs. Any tips for trolling the inlet from PA to...

Heading to Renfrew next week and looking for an updated fishing report. Are there still some big Springs around? Have the Coho moved in yet? I have seen the Island Outfitters report but was hoping to get some more specific insight.

Just got back from my first trip to Port Renfrew. I highly suggest a trip there for anyone who wants to hit the different types of salmon in one day. Had springs, coho, and also took some time to work the muscles hauling up halibut. Could have targeted sockeye also, but I have enough from local...

I would appreciate some help from the members here. I am planning with a friend to haul my boat to the Island for a single day of fishing – it will be a whirlwind trip but with our various family and professional commitments, it is realistically all we can put together so obviously we want to...

Went for two days up to Bamfield with a guide from Port Alberni - the cannal was much smoother than the road - with my dad, and a buddy for two days of fishing. As we got to mouth of the cannal the weather report was check and it did not sound good, gale warning and high seas for two day. My...
