Took Morgano up on the offer to go fishing this morning and got on the water despite a dead battery and threathing seas. Started fishing around half noon in 5 foot rollers with anchovies, hoochies and a spoon. Sometime later we got a just legal fish near the last marker on Spanish Bank on an anchovy at about 100'. An hour later we got some hit on a cop car that did not stick. Fished until I was red as a cooked lobster (5pm).

The most amazing thing was that we did not see a seal all day. None. When normally you can't throw a stick with out hitting one. Strange.

I wish it was that easy to tell.
The seal around Van are a perminate fixture. You buy them with the house. Never in my life... 31 years to be exact have I been on English Bay and not seen a seal. When I was a kid they toy with any way-ward lines traling out the Laser.
Seal are an endemic pest around here. And not seeing one is like a pod of transiant killer whales... YUMMY!
The salmon will always be here - the Fraser is still the second largest salmon river in the world.
