Just to let everyone know there is a big coho derby at the campground and area this weekend. Lots of coho in the river so should be good. I imagine it will be just a little crowed around that area.

Cheers, Rob

I hope the river is great and everyone enjoys the derby. :beerchug: I may not be in the derby and will likely not fish that flow because of it but these people are my peers and many of them do a world of good for our sport. I hope they all have a great time :drunk:

I hope every one enjoys themselves at the derby and the conditions are really good. Thus will keep them off some of the other rivers that are already in good shape  .

Good luck to those fishing at the derby. Due to committment in YVR, won't be able to get out to the flow.

However, will be on the Vedder on Monday. Plan on taking a few of my friends, that have yet to catch a fish on the Vedder.

3rd time casting with a CP, and love it. Next going to fish with my home made ROE. Hopefully will catch my first Coho, ever.

Roe:

This was copied from another fishing website:

Our Church is sponsoring a Coho Derby on the Chilliwack/Vedder River, Saturday Oct. 2 from dawn until 2 PM. The weigh in station is at Fred's Custom Tackle on Vedder Rd.
At 3 PM at the church, Central Pentecostal Assembly 9535 Williams St. in Chilliwack, the recognition and giving of prizes to the first, second and third largest coho's; plus the largest coho caught by a youth age 16 or under, and the hidden weight draw will happen. We will also have 5 prizes for children 6 and under that participate in the derby. There will also be an outdoor BBQ following the presenting of the prizes. Cost to enter the Coho Challenge and enjoy the BBQ is $5 per person and $15 per family. We are also making available fishing outfits for those who want to fish but don't have the equipment.
Prizes are being donated by our church, fishing tackle stores in the community, businesses and private donors. There are some quality prizes being presented at the Derby/Challenge. This is a first for our church and want it to be something positive for the whole family and community.
To purchase tickets or wanting more information you can contact myself, Rod at 604-308-3040 cell or 604-847-0271 home. Tickets for purchase will also be available at Hub's, Fred's Tackle and Chilliwack Dart & Tackle by this Monday.
If you know of anyone or business who would like to donate/sponsor a prize please let me know. Do consider participating in this event.

Just for information sake: the post about our church sponsoring a coho derby Saturday Oct. 2 is an ad for 2004
not this weekend.

Curious Mefish, which forum did you get this ad from? It is very outdated. Glen contacted me and told me of the confusion. Thanks Glen.

AND they say that you have to camp in their campground, and because it's a long weekend that they'll only rent a site to you if you're staying 2 nights. I woulda entered but at $23 a night for camping in a "grass field" plus entry fee of $20 I think I'll pass. I'll probably swing by at weigh in time to see the fish and how I woulda made out.

Anyone at the campground for the wiegh in? I was to busy on the water to make it to the campground. I hope the derby doesn't allow dirty fish for entries. The boot fish that were being kept were just disgusting.

there were 70 guys entered in the derby. biggest spring was 29lbs. my friends registered in the derby and never stayed in the park. where did you get your info as it was not part of the prerequeset to fish in the derby. want to find out as there could of been more entries and want to get to the bottom of this info as they will probably have one next year. did you get it from the front desk at vedder campground etc.
