Well I have been waiting patiently for several months for the July 1 opening of the Vedder/Chilliwack rivers, with the idea that I would go there as soon as someone confirms there ARE fish in the river....To date, I have NOT received a single RELIABLE report as to a fish being taken in these waters. Would somebody please change my mind? I want to get out there! I am going to target these heavies with the fly rod and a bunch of new flies I just received from up north.............They look awesome and all I need is an audience of fish!!
Give me something I can use!!......Ortho 8)

Oh, you know I will be out there,alright......it's just that there is so much excitement generated prior to the opening
and a lot of people "heard of a few"... .I was looking for a solid report of someone hooking & landing a legitimate red. I never need any encouragement to get out there. I even take my collapseable & spin gear on my motorcycle trips!.............Ortho 8)

I've been thinking of trying to put in at Barrowtown. However, I've never been there before, but I *think* I know generally where it is.

Is this the spot? http://tinyurl.com/npzbs

If not, would you mind giving me directions to it?

Thanks.

Well you have to get off the freeway about 2 miles west of the vedder canal then follow the road back towards the canal on the north side of the freeway. There is plenty of water in the Sumas now and through the next few weeks, but it gets a little "dry" there later in the summer, and early fall and makes launching a bit tricky, but you can get right out into the Vedder Vanal from there and travel down to the mouth and fish wherever you want. Aside from the trains, and the crowds and the mosquitos, it's a fun plasce to fish.......Ortho 8)
