Steelhead in March until mid may! Salmon run from September to December with the peak in October! December can provide some really great dollie, bull, and rainbow trout fishing as they are feasting on flesh and loose eggs!Dollies are gathering top spawn as well so some big fish to be had! Good luck!

Yeah I would have to say that the Cheakamus is the better one for dollies then the squamish. I like the Cheak simply because of its size.Easier access than the big river.Mind you I've had some double digit dollie days on the Squamish too. They're both good I guess,I just prefer the Cheakamus. I don't really fish the Mamquam that much.I know that you get some early steelies on all three rivers say in late December.

fished the Mamquam for a few hours on Monday. suprisingly quiet, just a couple of tired chum. water really low, and gin clear, but with the clouds and rain, I thought that it would be better.

I think hotrod nailed it for the cheakamus...access. Like he said not to detract from the squamish, but the cheak is much more accessible, less driving, less hiking...etc...

They are all excellent rivers...I fish the mamquam a lot for steelhead, and enjoy the river immensely, but I haven't really hit too many dollies in there, always the cheak or the squish...

Those rivers rock! No retention I think contributes a lot to that...

hey sorry to pry, but where exactly do you fish for dollies/bulls/rainbows in the cheakamus system? i have explored the area many times, not fished unfortunately, and have allways wondered what spots i should hit. i fly fish and have access to a car too. im coming back from uni on dec 19 and am itching to head out again for some relatively sure fire action so any inf (pm is great too) would be amazing. thanks.
