I am trying to find some information on the bait fish salmon feed on here on the west coast. Does anyone know of a website or a good book that would cover something like this? I want to tie up some new patterns for the salt to cast from boat and beach, any suggestions?

Big clousers.... Fat and thin. That will cover your Pilchards(giant herring to 12 inches), herring (2-8 inches) and the thin ones for needle fish (6 inches max I would guess)
Figuring out the timing might be a little harder, might want to have a look around the cutting tables see whats in the bellies.
Round the SWCVI they seem to travel seperatly and move through in groups at various stages of developement

Try tying a big blue and white intruder with lots of flash and some red gills
that shoud do the trick!!
