I have a spot on the lower Fraser that I used to Bar Fish when I was 12 years old. I used to sleep over at a friends house on weekends and some weeknights to help him and his dad deliver the morning paper, I remember when i was younger i would ask my parents over and over to buy me a fishing rod and reel so i could fish with my friend and his dad, My parents would always say NO !!! So i always had to borrow someone elses rod/reel, when i helped with the papers my friend's dad would give me $$10.00 a week to help (I know it isnt much but i was young) I would save every $10 dollars i got till I was able to afford my own fishing rod and reel, once the papers were done then off to the lower fraser we go, it was good times we fished there for a good 3 years every weekend, I dont remember much of it but I remember the early morning camp fires and the amount of Springs,Coho,Chum being caught. I remember getting my first coho on my proudly bought brandnew setup i saved up for and i was the most happy kid i could imagine.

Now 18 years later Im still Bar fishing this exact same spot when i was 12 years old, the fishing there isnt as good as the past but from reading articles, fish numbers were allot better back in the day compared to today. Now I have a kid who just turned 3 years old, I would like to share those moments i had when i was younger as much as i can with him, I know he is still young but he has a good understanding on what it is im doing out there.
He loves watching dad catch fish as he gets really excited about it, he loves anythig to do with fishing either it be on TV pictures books etc etc.....

So Since i got out of the Bar Fishing for a long period of time (Close to 18 years) and my son getting a bit older, I like to fish this lower spot as it brings back some great memories from being a young kid, I'm asking how long can you bar fish the fraser for can you fish it right through to december ??

I like to Fish the Vedder in the Fall but I get a guilty feeling when i leave the family at home doing nothing while im out fishing all the time, and when the Vedder is packed full of people I like to have my lower fraser spot to relax and spend time with my family and fish.

I would like to see what other think of fishing the fraser at certain months of the year, and past memories they have when they were younger taging along with friends or family to those early morning sandy fraser river bars
:peace:

Mine was never the fraser but a certain spot on the Alouette. I now go there with my 7 year old son with our fly rods in hand and fish is it alot. I used to ride my bike there when I was a kid and now as an adult I live even closer to that spot. It brings back alot of memories and that is where I caught my very first coho. I hope it will be as good for him as it was for me. It has already produced a few fish for him but nothing big yet. Who knows maybe this fall  . He now has his first bait cast set up and we go there to practice with it.

I know they are out there fishing now for mainly Jack Springs but i only ever fished it in the fall, and like you have some great memories of those damp and foggy fall mornings standing around the fire.
A buddy of mine just got into it last year and im planning on spending at least a few days out there this season with him.
