May 12th

I took an extra hour coming back from the Salmon Arm area yesterday and drove the Salmon/Douglas lake Road from Westwold to Nicola Lake.

The dirt portion at the Westwold end was as greasy as can be - everyone should be very careful if you are going into the back country this weekend. Several times the truck wanted to go straight ahead and the road needed me to make a turn. I was only going 35K as well .

The lower well travelled gravel roads were fine - 65/70K no problem.

We came through between in the early afternoon Sunday

Salmon lake - a few campers/5th wheels - very windy / rainy / only 3 degrees so did not even stop to see about the fishing.

Douglas lake - same conditions

Coq. Toll Booth - it was minus 1 / zero degrees - some new snow on the trees up the side hills a couple of hundred feet.

So Dress warm and bring extra - and drive very carefully.

Just wait till this weekend when it's 30 degrees for 4 days in a row and all that snow starts melting at once..... they thought we had a problem last year with flood threats, sure we had more snow but we ended up getting the gradual warming... I think we should be warning the poeple thinking of heading to the river this weekend as it will be up much higher than it is today.
