anyone been fishing the beaches off courtney or campbell river? gear chuckers that is! i'm planning a trip up that way in the next few months to visit a friend and just wondering when the best time to plan a trip there, to catch salmon from shore? done it way back in the day but not remembering what month it was? thanks......... Some guys are getting blue backs off shore from king coho, which is by the little river ferry terminal. Winter springs are being caught on bucktails between shelter and willow point in 60 feet of water, so I am sure you could hook into one there. The coho don't show up too thick near shore until they gather in the estuarys, but there is great jigging and fly fishing to be had at sentry shoals come mid july. The end of september at the Oyster river estuary, point holmes in comox, king coho and oyster bay is all good for coho. You can hit springs any time off king coho, I used to fish off shore there when I was a kid, it drops of really quick.

oh yes i do have a friend(roger) that in the past year or so has moved from victoria to little river we used to fish the breakwater years ago casting jigs for salmon he might be into fishing the beaches around there if he hasn't already he should know something? when i do go up i'll be only casting from the beach! anyone know of any hot jigs?

My favorite was the stingsildas or jensen pirkens, but the originals are almost impossible to find. I had about 10 that were stolen along with my elec downriggers, rods reels and tackle a few years ago. One actually had over 10 fish credited to it, had it for over 5 years. I usually lose em before gettin up to that many.
