headed out last night after work about 3;30 and headed over to bell bouy. started trolling between the two markers off spanish banks in 70 feet of water. had first hit on chovie 30 ft. down on purp haze flasher with green teaser head around last marker. lost it about five feet from boat small spring i think. trolled out around bell bouiy and back to marker.the finder was lit up between markers so trolled through there when bang line starts peeling my buddy grabs the rod and we have a big fish on. it surfaces about a 100 ft out and skims the surface. my buddy bashes his thumb and burns his palm on the mooching reel as it peels line fighting it. get it to the boat and it heads underneath and then theres no more pull but rod is bent. look over back and thers a huge spring sitting there (20 lb +) with the line around the downrigger ball. i reach to net him get him half in the net and snap the leader breaks and he,s gone :wallbash: this fish was on chvie green flasher with green prism teaser head. after cursing myself out kept fishing and had one more little guy on a chovie aswell as a coho landed and another good strike on a simplr blue and silver spoon behind purple haze flasher. I'm pretty knew to this game and learning all the time so after not getting a sniff many times it was a pretty excitng night. thanks to all those who provide advice on this sight i may be getting the hang of this game.will be out again tonight and i'll report back

I always like to get those drs up and out of the water when a bigger spring nears the boat, saves the :wallbash: as they usually tend to go were they want :beerchug:

yup lesson learned. i had brought it up and removed last clip so there was maybe 5 ft out on the line but he found it alright. went out again tonight and not a sniff but tonights adventure was ripping my electric downrigger right off the side of my boat as i was tending lines and boat driver failed to mention the depth sounder had changed from 70 to 30 ft. I managed to grab as it got caught in my kicker mount. another lesson learned women cant drive boats either
