Saw on the news that a good sized Aluminum boat capsized off Pt. Grey this afternoon about 3 o clock.

2 occupants on board, both taken to hospital for hypothermia.

Wondering how a boat about 17 feet with a good sized outboard could have capsized in relatively easy Southeast Winds? (15 knots maybe?)...heck..I've been out with winds pushing 25 knots out of the SW and SE...and based on the size of the boat it shouldn't have been too much of a problem??????????

Anyone have any information from this incident?

i heard an interview on the radio this morning from a passenger in a regular commuter charter Beaver flying from Saltspring. The other passenger saw the boys red floater suit from the air and told the pilot who decided to land. There were 2 passengers in the Beaver. They picked up a father and son who were on top of the overturned (I think) boat. About 7 feet of boat was showing. The father also had a floater suit (blue). They were weak from cold. An hour and a half in the water. It was getting close to dark. The pilot then took off with them inside and took them to either the Flying Beaver for pints, or the awaiting ambulance at the float dock at YVR, cant remember all the details.
