PST & GST on the boat, PST only on the trailer. No duty on North American made products. RIV import &inspection fee of a couple hundred bucks on the trailer. I just bought from the States and it is very easy, if you have anymore questions fire away or PM me.

pgbilly,

Did you buy new or used? I've heard issues about warranties not being valid in Canada when importing new boats and motors.

Obviously, if you're buying used, there's likely no warranty left anyhow. Great savings across the line are (I think) being offset by the fact that if you buy new, you get no warranty once it's in Canada.

Maybe TNT, Cascade or others can comment on this whether it's true with all manufacturers or just some?

There is "technically" no warranty on US motors in canada. With yamaha, merc are the biggest two as well as Bombardier with us. On a few occations we have made it happen but there are a LOT of hoops to jump through. I have to contact the canadian comany to get them to contact the us company and then they talk and we get the gist of it later. Not as easy nor as effective at getting a warranty approved! Especially if it is a canadian with a US product in canada ( or visa versa). With the the great dollar Canadian prices will fall and they are starting to now and these cross boarder rules will get tighter to keep the buisness in canada. Also keep in mind most dealers will service their customers first and mid season warranties on units bought in the states will most likely not be done because we as dealers lose money and time that could be spent on customers that spent money with us and want work done. Warranties are not good for the bottom line as a company, but we do them to take care of our customers. We do get help from the factories, some more so than others, all in order to give the customer the best value for their dollar and peace of mind needed to enjoy their boat. We will work on any product bought anywhere, but our customers will come first. I am sure any other dealer out there will agree and any customer of that dealer would agree. That being said any US product that is only produced in the US like a boat manufacturer (ie, north river, wooldridge, thunderjet, etc) those warranties will not be affected no matter where they are bought or where they end up. In short, support your local dealer so they can be there to support you! my :2cents: :peace:
