the high dollar will affect the tourist industry and already has...(i.e. lodges and sport fishin) What is hurting the fishing industry is the high price of gas (to run a 40-60ft boat) and the lack of supply. look at the price in seattle for the Alaskan Copper River sockey (the first to hit the market) $50 a lb :eek: :eek: :eek:
thats why ya cant get fresh spring in a market around here........ it is just startin the engine and is sitting at 15 bux a lb for whole h/on which works out to 25-30 bux a lb for fillets wholesale :eek:

Surprisingly it hasn't affected us much. We are actually more booked now than we were at this time last year. Many of our bookings last year came in May and June as well...so we are looking to book our last 5 spots up (over 2 boats) in the next month or so...but so far so good...let's not forget tons and tons of fisherman coming out here are from Alberta...
