there is a slough called jespersons. it is in chilliwack on the fraser. also try the hope slough. i fish carp there lots. they fight hard and are relaxing to fish. i use a 20 inch lead with a small peice of pencil led sliding on the main line. chuck it and let it sit. when the carp takes the bait ( hot dog or corn) the fish will not sence that it has a line attatched because the line will side through the weight... FISH ON!!

As a carp fishing maniac, used to be when lived in the old country still love to fish for them once in a while, here is a few picks from deer lake burnaby two years back.
Unfortunatlly it takes a lot of time, effort and knowladge to trick a big carp to take your hook, and my time is very limited when they bite the best, but I try to make a few trips a year.
When i say big carp I mean over 15 lb,becouase as they age they become extremly clever and inteligante.
Both of these fish are over 20lb,and there is fish pushing 30 pound range in the same lake, and they are not ugly fish for everyone :peace:

Hopefully the picks work.

You are on the right track hook, but there is a lot more to know then that,i find it hard to belive that you can catch a big carp on a fly rod,as tho it can happen, but i think your chances to land one are small.
All the cases I've heard of are mostly smaller ones up to 8 lb,they will come to surface on a very hot day, during mid day mostly, and of couse if they see food they will eat it,but theygeneraly feed on the bottom and spend most of their time there too.
