heading to chain lake up past princeton, thursday after work. I'll be giving my new fly rod it's first real good workout  I hope ;)
any one else familiar with this lake? I'm very new to fly fishing but this lake did treat me well last year on chironomids. I was thinking about try a dry fly like tomb thumb if theres any sign of top water action. Maybe one of you pro's can tell me if i'm out to lunch on that one or not ;D

If there is top water action, aTom Thumb is certainly a good bet. Take some in size 14 up to size 8. Mikaluk sedge patterns are good also. If there is rising action and you are not getting any hits, try a halfback or hares ear nyhmph subsurface.

I was up there last weekend - we fished Osprey just around the corner and while we did't do to well guys with bright green chironnies were slaying them - long leaders - Anyhow before we left we went over to Link and talked to a guy who said it was slow - we were standing at the launch area and the shallow water was loaded with olive scuds and two large brown leeches - easy to scoop up - for what it is worth - but Osprey was great for the ones who had the correct chironnies
