Just wondering how the chehahlis has been fairing. Water Levels? Fish numbers? Thinkning about hitting the canyon sometime soon or possibly hike down the new section of river.

Well I meant the new section of the river that appeared after 2004 when the river blew out and diverted from the hatchery. I don't think much has changed since then, might be wrong though.

well my buddy was up there recently and said the water is still going through the trees as it was before

so i would assume it will take some good planning to figure out how they are going to divert it back

lets all hope they do it soon as the hatchery isnt getting many of the Coho over there for sure

tight lines & good drifts

i agree with the river how it is

however they dig out that screwy channel to get water to the hatchery and you still get the gong show there and at the campground too

i have journied my way into the forest looking for new pockets for fishing to get away from everyone i guess my dad and i just didnt dig into it far enough

we like to be fishing and not walking for hours so we turned around and fished some of the "not great looking" spots we came across and did pick a few up but nothing really great

i still however would like to see them get alot more flow to the hatchery as the people there have done a great job on keeping the Coho stocks on the up&up

you guys have to agree with that yes???

Yes Hook, I totally agree with that!! I was able to find some nice runs in the woods, but they are real hard to get to, and my favorite runs from when there was water down the hatchery channel, are now just pools with no flow. I would love to get back into these runs as they were stellar, and hardly anyone ever fished them!! Anyhow, I keep hearing mumouring's that this was going to be addressed. But I guess nothing has been done yet. Last I heard was that the Natives wanted it changed back to the Hatcery as well, as the water was eroding away at their land rather quickly. I guess we will alll have to wait and see.

I was there in late July, and there were rocks piled up to divert flow through the hatchery channel, but no water going through yet. It looks like a little water will go through there when the water comes up, but not much more than the last few years. I do all my fishing in the canyon anyways 8)

My buddy and I are thinking about heading to the Chehalis on Sunday. But I havent heard anything about whats going on there? Can you advise the water levels and how the fishing is? We could meet up with you early in the morning.

Tight lines....
