This is just a follow-up, on the hatchery pics, from an earlier post. I'm not sure if this might be moved to the "general" section or not. My apologies if it does.

mmmmmmmmmm those look good enough to eat lol so what do they do wiht the brains like i mean what do they sample them for to see why theses ones didnt get caught on there way up there or what im jsut wondering lol
The scale samples are to determine age. I'm not sure about the brain samples...we didn't really get into that. I think I was told awhile ago about it, but it escapes my brain at the moment. ??? :hmmm:

Possibly for chip recovery. Isn't that what the salmon head recovery is all about? :hmmm:

The chip is in the nose... :cheers: sage
Could be looking for the otoliths, another ageing technique but that is just a guess. It's been many years since I went in search of those.
