Where on the Columbia were you? I was in Trail in mid-June, hoping to throw some flies at Walleyes but the water was very high and I didn't know where to go, and didn't really have time to explore. Had a great time at Champion Lakes though, including watching my 4 year old land his first trout (and second, and third)- on a fly. Good luck if you get out!
It was my first time there, so I fishing the river below the Keenleyside dam. The water was smotth there, and I just have a 12' aluminum boat, no river experience, so really just wanted to be safe. Would luv to check out other spots, but just don't have the time. I'm in Victoria, but hope to make it a yearly trip in the summer from now on.
