I live in PoCo and am curious about fishing the Coquitlam. When do the Steelhead run and how are their numbers? Is any pressure too much for them?Where are the runs?I'm fly only & c/r except the odd salmon.Trout/Salmon info would also be appreciated.

Fair enough. I had a feeling that it's not in the greatest shape, with all I hear about gravel extraction  (can't they get enough gravel without hitting a river like this one?) and industry/development nearby.Quite a shame cause it's a nice looking river. I guess that's what I'll do then, just look at it.
The stories of its past had me thinking I was missing out on some good local fishing.I appreciate the response/opinion.

Complaints about gravel extraction

I have been reading posts about the coquitlam river for many years and its a shame that its ruined but comeone people, get realistic. Aggregate is necessary in concrete construction and unless you dont use roads, and buildings your part of the problem.

Aggregate is a necessity in our life but the regulations on thier waste is where the problem lies. For years there was no crack down on thier pollution into the river, and that is why it is in the shape it is in now. Plus the latest developments near the river are not helping much either.

As for fishing the river, I rarely fish it anymore and I live in Poco. Way better to drive 1/2 hour to the stave to fish.
