In transporting two skeins of chum roe from the river to the car yesterday they got a bit squished under the fish itself, and about a third of the eggs separated themselves from the skeins. Are these garbage now, or is there a way that I can cure them? THanks.

You could try the muradic acid (sp?) cure if you want to use them for fishing as singles (like a jensen egg). 10 parts water, one part acid. Amount of time in the mixture varies, just keep a hook on hand and test every minute or so until desired hardness. Usually no more than ten minutes, rinse well under fresh water when done.

an easier method is to take a pot of water, get it boiling and disolve pickling salt in it until it won't disolve any more. then let it cool. Dump in your eggs and osmosis does the rest. They end up very rubbery and keep forever. Just need to scoop them out as needed, tie in roe bags, apply favourite scent.

Do you think that this is the way they do singles like the ones you get at Berry's bait and tackle?
