We had a very sad death recently up here in Haida Gwaii, not far from my home. A very large Fin Whale washed up dead on the beach. I haven't heard how or why it died but sure would like to. They recently completed the autopsy and burred it in the sand to retrieve the bones after decomposition. I am told that the Fin Whale is a "At Risk" species, what shame!! I don't think there was any media coverage on this, makes me wonder why!

There was a Juvenile Fin whale that washed up north of the Oleanda last year a 35ft baby! Second in size only to the blue whale... Sure wouldlike to see one on the water...

Ya, that would be quite the sight! This one in the picture was a 50 footer!

Being as a dead whale on the beach is a rare occurence, I would think this was a natural death...
