When i bar fish the (LOWER FRASER) I just use my 10.6 drift rod and baitcasting reel abu 6500c3 Like the ones you would use on the vedder and other rivers. And i make my own bar rigs with a size 1/0 hook, reason for this is when i make my own rigs i only make them with 1 hook not 2 like the ones you buy in stors, saves your bait using only 1 hook, and for weight your best bet would be a 2 oz. Load the hook with a nice fresh piece or roe and toss it to where you think the fish are gonna be! The fraser is a funny river so when i go i use just standard gear because you just never know what is on the end of the line at any time of the year! Just remember the fraser is the greatest fish highway in the world! Lotsa big fish to be caught.

P.S.Dont forget a good rod holder and a fold out chair,

CK pretty much nailed it. I even use a bit lighter gear at times as well. 10 lb test mainline with 8 lb leaders. I also just use a three way swivel with about a 12" peice of line tied to the bottom where I attached a Snap swivel, the weight on there is 2-3 ounces depending on how fast the tide is running. For a leader, it is usually around the 16-18" mark and a 1/0 hook, tied to the middle of the three way swivel and just connect that whole thing to the main line using the top eye of the three way swivel. I use a small Abu Eon for a reel and a 10 foot technium. For a rod holder, I got a good deal on a stainless steel hinged upright holder for quick rod access on those big hits. Good roe helps out a lot as well.... None of the freezer burned store bought crap. :wallbash: All that stuff seems to catch are the fish you don't want to catch.

Anyhow, hope that helps a bit. Cheers and good luck if you give it a go.

did all releases while keeping the fish in the water
