I have almost always stuck with Trilene Big Game (in some pretty spanky colours) for mooching but would like to know what others favourites are and why? My mooching buddy is raving on his success with Fluorocarbon line (especially in winter  ) and would like to hear others opinions?

30lb Maxima UltraGreen mainline all the way. 30lb leader for winter, 40lb leader for the big summer fish. Remember, stiffer leader= more action on the lure whatever it may be, particularly hootchies as they create no action on their own. Maxima UltraGreen provides both U.V. and abrasion resistance that the other manufacturers just can't seem to duplicate,.......... and I've tried them all. Chalupa

Salmonaddict, I use flourocarbon in my flyfishing endevours. Lake fishing, interior and Island lakes, most definitely. Saltwater Salmon shallow flyfishing( 3-10ft) for sure. Open water flyfishing or downrigging, I really can't say if it would be an advantage or not as I seem to do fine with standard mono. Flourocarbon certainly serves its purpose in my arsenal in certain situations and I incorporate it often. The only thing negative that I can say about it is that it does seem to fail more rapidly than good ole mono. I am a "Flouro-fan" Chalupa

30 pound

tyee2112. I like seeing someone else who likes 30 pound in the chuk. I used to think heavy line (30) could spook Springs, but dont believe it any more.

I dont fish the rivers myself, but often wonder why so many guys let fish carry on up river with broken leaders trailing behind them.

Yea I don't think even 40lb leader spooks chinook I know lots of guys that use it and do well.I find using less than 30lb with flashers and you get a lot of line twists.

Maxima 15 or 20lb is great for me.
I've used breaded line not for salmon fishing but fishing for tuna from the shore. It has a purpose... the strech in mono would make for a week hook set at 300'. And it is good.
At 120' I have a hard time taking my gear in off the wire with mono, cause of the stretch. But when a fish hit it only has 20' of line to stretch.
I don't know the point, exept that many time he stretch in the line has cept me fish I would not have caught.
F=MA... and acceration is effected by stretch, it makes it less as does the bending of the rod - it is all force = mass X acceration and magic.
Have fun, Jason
