Hi gang.

I'm heading over to Victoria for two days in the end of September, and I have a few hours to kill on the Saturday, so I thought I would put my pontoon boat in Elk Lake. Since I don't have a lot of time, I don't want to waste it. Is it worth the effort for bass/trout? If so, any tips to share for bass lures?

Thanks,

B

The bass fishing usually has slowed down a bit by then....but the trout fishing should be pretty good....that lake has some really big trout aswell. Draging a fly is usually a good way to go and a lot of guys do that from boats and float tubes. Another thing to try is dragging power eggs ...I know it sounds weird but the guys at the lake swear by it. Beaver lake is also a good place to try and it joins to elk lake.
Good luck

Since my original post, I've read some stories about some large rainbows to be found there. I think I'll stick to fly fishing, but will tuck my small bass rig behind my seat just in case. I'll report back what I find.

cheers,

B
