I've been fishing these alot lately but they seem so fragile, I go through a few of them every time I'm out. Is there anything you can coat them with to make them a little more durable??? ,, Or even better are they easy to make?
not sure what you are doing to them, but epoxy flies are usually extremely durable. go here http://www.flyanglersonline.com/ click on Flyt tying, then on the next page click intermediate tying then click part 42.
ya i had found that the epoxy minnows i purchased, that where tied by a reputable tyer, from a reputable tackle shop did not hold up aswell. seemed like they either slid right off the shank or shattered away from the shank. have not used them since and find that the old standbys catch just as many fish without the added $2.99 cost of buying someone elses flies.
I have tied thousands of epoxy flies and fished hundreds.
They are extremely durable.
The only way they crack or break is hitting rocks etc. , wait for it..............
On The Back Cast.
Don't drop your back cast and the problem is solved.
Just remember that these flies are very aerodynamic and fall through the air very quickly.
Watch your casting stroke and you will be fine.
These flies are the bomb.
Have fun with them.
