I am planning a trip around the Falkland area; Pinaus, bolean, Spa or Arther first week in May, hopping the fly-fishing will be good. I was wondering, lakes in that area at the three thousand level, when does the ice normally come off these lakes?
i havent fished that lake for a couple years but last time i was up there was early may. but with that cold bit of winter hanging around, i think ice off might be pushed back a week or two. only recently has there been any warmth up higher to melt through. i tried last saturday to make it up to becker and bardolph but there was still about 6 -8 inches of snow on the road.

Thanks for the information Tuberdude. Last winter we have made a wall tent out of 1-inch conduit and tarps. Want to get up they’re early and try it out, and the fishing should be good.
On a related note, Does anyone know the condition of Joyce Lake? I may be passing thru there this weekend and was thinking that it might be a good place to stop.
Thanks
