I am leaving for a fall fishing trip to Hihium lake in mid Sept and could use some good advise on what must have flies for this lake. I have fished it many of times with flat fish and this year I would like to try some good old fly fishing. Thank's in advance. :thumbup:

when i fish hihium in the fall ,my old goto starter fly is an olive 52 buik on a sinking line at 1.1kmh,I use to take the boat through the weeds at the end of the lake(at first by accident) and get the weeds caught in the prop this is how i figured out the 1.1 kmh on the gps .Ilater found out that a 5 gal bucket works well also.once the buick was all i used :thumbup:

how is hihium in the fall?

It can be extremly tough somtimes as the wind does not let up, atleast for a few times I have been there in the fall.Go for a weekend and get on the water once or twice for an hour :'(

yeah, i was up there in late may/early june i believe....windy as hell, but some damn nice trout!

I have fished Hihuim every fall for about 8 years now ya the wind can be ugly but it does have many good days too. It has allways been worth the reward.
