Have been to Cathedral Lakes and agree that they are spectacular!!! The down-side is that they are not easily accessible. NO private vehicles are allowed to drive up to the lakes and the $$$ they charge for a ride is quite expensive. You can hike, but at 7000 ft, it's a tough go!!!

The lodge is very nice and they have some individual cabins that might be described as "quaint". Both used to be reasonably priced but a Japanese company bought out the original owners and the prices are now astronomical!!

It was and still is one of my greatest experiences though, so if you've got the $$$, I'd definitely go for it!! Very private, very spectacular, very unique....

For something a little more accessible and a LOT cheaper, you could try Lindeman Lake, out near Chilliwack lake. It's about a 1 hour gentle hike up (except for a few spots). You wouldn't want to be packing a lot of gear though...

If you go, stop into Fred's tackle to get a recent map/directions and recent conditions...

Here's a few pics...

ya the unimog taxi round trip is $75 for the 1 hour trip up and back. beats the hell out of hiking. used it 2 years ago to access the prov camp site. snowed a foot on the LAbour day long weekend!!! And yes the lodge and cabins ain't cheap but do include accomidation, all meals, transportation, use of hot tub ( and what a view from the hot tub ) and canoes on Quiniscoe. still it's expensive.
