more likely an eagle i would think

An eagle certainly may have been eating it but for sure did not catch it and kill it. It's too big! Pretty bizarre. Nice pics Britguy!

Eagles are fairly strong, its also hard to judge the size of that fish without a reference of some sort. Maybe it was a wild that has been caught so many times it was completely exhausted and a muskrat got it?

Too many claw stratches for that me thinks. Not all the bears in the Lml and (most) the Isle sleep through the winter....especailly with the spring like conditions of late.
I drove up to Campbell River today and saw a bear walking parallel with the highway about 200yds off the road in a field, so they're awake.

no bears in the canal area
It was mid river
no where near the canal

And yeh Profesorri decided to give the drift rod a go again as i have a new rod and wanted to see how it handled a good size steelie (not expecting to get one that day)
and it stood up to the challenge well
Fish took me for a few good runs before i could see if it was a hatch or not
I did weigh it when i got home(minus the guts and eggs)
anyone want to guess the weight ???(minus the guts and eggs)
