I had the pleasure of attending the annual meeting for the BCFDF organization last weekend. I wanted to bring up an issue I learned about at that meeting that seemed alarming and that all of us should be aware of. I'm not an expert on this subject but it would seem that there are some major environmental concerns as well as concerns of the powers the Minister inherits in the Bill concerning who can and cannot fish.

Heres a good overview of some issues from David Suzukis website,

Also info from the Sierra Club,

I'm not taking a stance one way or the other yet as I havent been able to stay awake long enough to read the entire Bill,,,,,yawn,, ::),,but it would seem there are issues that should at least be brought to our attention even if not fully understood.

I encourage each of you to either write the Minister of Fisheries ( [email protected] ) , or the Prime Minister ( [email protected] ) directly if you have any questions as soon as possible. I thinks its final reading wont be far off.
