Fight at Nitinat???

I heard that there might have been a fight at nitinat a couple days ago....My buddy got jumped by 3 guys and they beat him pretty good....He said it was because they were busted for poaching 2 years ago on the nitinat and they thought it was him that caused them to get busted. When really it was their fault. I wondered if anyone saw anything...I will get more info from him next time I talk to him. He emailed me just today so I will see what I can find out. If this is the case then us honest fishermen better carry dillhole (bear) spray on the river.

If that's the case, I'm sure the police could find out who they are, based on their previous conviction. I recommend NOT carrying pepper-spray as a weapon. I won't go into the legalities, but suffice it to say you could be going to jail as well.
Jesus, that is ridiculous ??? This is why Ive got bear spray ready all the time, because of idiots like this (and obvious reasons). Hope your buddy is alright.
I thought those kinds of things only happened on the Vedder.
Let the authorities handle it. Don't be Charles Bronson down there. The Nit has many issues, despite the fact that the fishing is starting to get really good!
going before it closes, cant wait!
That totally sucks!!!!! All it takes is a couple a-hole yahoos to bugger things up on an otherwise decent fishing day. As much as I'd like to become vigilantee on this sort of thing, I'd echo Big Green Machine's thoughts, that being let the authorities handle it.
I can understand commercial fishing anger issues on closures affecting pockets. But damn I have yet to see a fight on say Vedder just sport fishing fighting over holes or cross lines. If I see this happen I am sure I would jump in and say a few words to the aggressor and hopefully the rest of the fellow fisherman would stand behind me. Everyone works so hard to just go down to the river for a peace of mind away from the daily grind and some travel great distances to do so or make prior arrangements to get time off work or away from the house. It is ridiculous to let the punks run the river I say we punk out the punks .... .Sometimes citizens have to become the authority figures and stick together
This is why I NEVER fish with crowds anymore unless I am with a friend. I will walk for 2-3 hours just to find a spot to myself on the Vedder on a weekend  By the way, fights on the Vedder are not that uncommon, and are usually over very stupid things :wallbash: I had a guy last year tell me he was going to throw me in the river after I told him that his fish was snagged (polarized glasses = easy to see a 5/0 hook in the pinks side). Just don't say anything back that could make them snap and walk away if need be, just agree if you are going to do anything at all, has gotten me out of a few things
Not to stir the pot but if you dont believe in the aggressiveness on the flow peak season, stop at the KW bridge first, then work your way up to the train bridge. Stop for lunch at the miller, cause all the sight seeing does cause one to become parched. Then make your way up river to bellacres hole or the boulder hole area still nothing go all the way cement slab should guarentee you some action. The real fun does'nt start till mid late season when the fish have mainly turned and all the true class act hunters come out to play. grab a coffee at timmy's go to the KW It can be quite soothing to watch the caos and say I guess life really aint that bad at least I'm not down there.
Cheers,
Crazy D
Stupid people with no common sense and with nothing to loose ARE EVERYWHERE! no exception for the rivers.

PM in coming on that one FM dont think your friend told you the real story.... I ran into the 3 guys

.....If I was Very drunk and threatened 3 guys bigger than I with a bottle to impress the woman I would expect to get a shot too
What I mean by punks is dirtyness as In fisherman alot of the time carry knives and when humans feel threatened well sometimes the reach for whatever is around rock, knife, scissors, and it doesnt turn out usually to pretty. If Im in a confrontation I use words and talk befor fists as I was trained to do but most are not......
I have to hang my head in shame... I was under the impression he wasn't drinking anymore ??? That does sound a little like him (I have almost given him a shot or two for pulling that crap with me and thats why I put it up here, I was hoping for the WHOLE TRUE story) but I am going to get more info out of him....so either way you look at it somebody was being a dink I think I just got the wrong story...mind you the reason I believed him is because I almost got into a fight on that river a few years ago...I was bottom bouncing-don't get all ticked off yet, I use a very very short leader (under 2feet) and was targeting fresh springs using a corkey to float it up in front of their face (in a pool with no current)...despite that he thought I was trying to snag...but it is a hard thing to do if I am not ripping my gear for the water...springs by the tail or body suck....regardless it ruined my day.
I do apologize for getting it wrong if that is the case and thanks for the support and info

No matter who is right or wrong, still a very sad situation. I hate to hear about things like this happening between anglers. We are all there to relax and enjoy all the beauty that waterbodies prone to holding fish have to offer. It is so sad when that desire turns into situations like this. we should band together to fight for OUR resources but it seems that many anglers do not understand their responsibilities in this regard.

I saw it once at Chehalis many years ago, the only fist fight I have ever witnessed while fishing. The combatants were cursing at each other from opposite sides of the hatchery channel and it became so heated that they ended up wading towards each other and meeting in the middle of the channel to do battle. Quite a scene and I am surely lucky to have only seen this type of thing once.......

A suggestion fellas...when a post contains the phrases "I heard that" and "might have been", it may be wise to pause and take a moment before waxing indignant and jumping to conclusions.
I feel that no matter what happened no one deserves to be jumped by three guys. Even if the guy was a jerk to begin with, shooting his mouth off in front of his girl. If two grown men decide to see who has the bigger light sabre that's fine but to have to have four extra hands and legs to deal with too, is not cool! I think all involved in the altercation need a reality check!

I personnely would avoid any type of trouble when out on the river because life is too short and I'm out to enjoy fishing. In the past four years I've had encountered guys like this and in the end I called authorities. It's a sad state of affairs but there are some not so nice people out there!

Hotrod
I agree with Hotrod. Although it hasn't happened to me, or that I had witnessed one, still, I'd just walk away and shake my head. Life's too short. Besides, if I ever retaliated, with my luck, I'd be in the newspaper, and my students would see that....jeez, what role-model that would be :naughty:
