Can anyone tell me what effect tonights fireworks may have on fishing over the next few days. i mostly fish the bell bouy or west van waterfront and have the next few days off. was out this morning trolling spanish banks to the bell bouy and the finder was showing lots of fish between 60 and 90 feet of water on bottom middle and surface. hooked one just under sized spring on wonderbread spoon and 1 dogfish on chovie. also lost 1 that shredded a chovie to just a head and bones. there was bait in the water aswell as seals of course.just wondering if its even worth trying again after tonights festivities.. I don't think they'll affect fishing, they are quite far from the fish and there's a night between them and fishing. The anchovie shreded is problalby another dog. Thanks for the report.
have fun, Jason

I could be wrong, but I think a lot of guys will tell you the fishing is lousy the next day in the harbour after fireworks. Maybe it's just a lame excuse, if you don't catch any fish the next day. Perhaps there's something to it as it's a fairly common belief. Hundreds of boats bombing around till midnight probably doesn't help fishing that's for sure.

The spill was down near port moody, no where near the fireworks. Looked like they had it pretty contained with the booms. I got about 100 yards away. The shore line was all black, and the water where I was, looked like someone spilled a bunch of gas in the water. It wasn't thick at all but you could tell by the shore it was. Hopefully this doesn't damage any stocks(the pinks passing through). At that point there wasn't much of a tide flow so hopefully it didn't escape the booms to much.
