Hey all,

Just bought a new boat this weekend and got all of downriggers and gear to go with it, so I am iching to give it all a try. I took the boat on a run from the steveston jetty to iona island and noticed alot of fish on the sounder. From what I have gathered they are springs and I would like to try and fish for them. Any one else been out there? I have no idea on how to fish properly with the down riggers, is there some good sites that have diagrams on lengths of leaders and flasher to line length? Any advice or info on what everyone else is doing would be great.

Thanks
Scott

Congratulations on the new boat. Friday 11am until 3pm I trolled from Sandheads to T10 (the marker off iona) and back to Sandheads again. No luck. I trolled an anchovie 6ft behind dodger, and a hootchie 40 inches behind a flasher, both lines on one rigger with a 12LB panacake weight. Tried mostly in between 50 and 100 ft of water going North, and 100 to 200 going South.
