As far as single action moochers go, I only know of three price levels of reels. The cheapest being: M-Ones, 2000 GT and 4000 GT. The next brings you to the $350 range: Temple Fork and Trophy (both are machined aluminum with large arbors). Then there are the Islanders at about $550.

Both the Temple Fork and Trophy reels are very simular in looks to the Islanders. The cost difference come from them being produced over seas. Some of the springs, bearings and other components may not be the same quality of the Islander. So, under the heavy usage of chartering, the internal components may not last. But under the use of half a dozen to a dozen times a year might not matter. The free spool mechanism on the trophy is not as easy to utilize for those who like to freespool with the downrigger.

There was also a moocher made by Lamson. But, I believe that is no longer in production. Some other alternatives are aluminum large arbor fly reels. There alot of them out there with nice smooth drags. They will range from $200 and up. The only major differences are no free spool mechanism, one handle (most cases) and drag knob is usualy on back side.

I assumed you were looking for reels with easy retrieve when drag tension is increased?
