Well I am thinking of trying something new this year. I think I might try my luck at fly fishing for bass in the sloughs around Pitt Meadows. Has anyone tried this? What flies would work? Any info would be great.

This is something I would like to try also,, I can't say from experience but i think any big flashy topwater fly's would work. Since bass are so aggressive anything landing near them can entice a strike. I imagine you could have alot of fun fishing light gear for those guys.

I've been told that there will be a good artical in the next BC outdoors mag. But until then I know the boys at Reaction are Bass buggy. It will be real good come April, not sure how it would be right now. :beerchug:

This is when I was thinking of going. The top water action is pretty good when it is warm out. Just wanted to get as much info before hand so that I can tie up flies.

I have read that Vaseux Lake in the S.Okanagan has excellent large-mouth. Vaseux Lake is located between Penticton and Oliver.
South VAncouver Island lakes hold Small-mouth from Spider Lake near Qualicum down to lakes near Victoria.
here's a link to BC Parks - Vaseux Lake

I was involved in an article for fly vs lures (crank baits, top water...) for Van Island Fish Finder Magazine many years ago. We fished for Bass on Quennell Lake between Nanaimo and Chemainus.

They fight hard for about 3 mins and then in they come.

Jim Smith Lake in Cranbrook.
yep jimsmith has some bass as well as some rather large rainbows.
Caught lots of both trolling black micro leeches. Have you tried Lost Lake up above Jim Smith? No Bass, but some very nice 'bows.
No i have never fished lost lake, have you managed to ever catch any decent size bass out of jim smith?i seem to only get smaller fish.

Just little guys 4-5". I was really fishing for trout anyway. It does make you wonder how much impact they actually have on trout populations tho'.
