I may be in PG for 5 days in early July and wonder if there is any place to fish from the shore or wading in the area. ??? What should I bring for lines and flies? I see the Nechako and Fraser run through/by the city. I am used to fishing the Columbia so have a lot of respect for big rivers. Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

If your willing to drive for a couple hours you could try the Stellako river near Fraser lake. It is a classified system so you are required to buy a classified license/stamp but there are some nice fish to be had if you can trick them. Another other option would be Crooked River north of PG.

Flyfishing lakes in the area would be hard without a boat. If you can get/rent a boat/tube try Hart lake north of PG. The lake has a good damsel population and they would be starting to migrate now.Casting right into the reeds with a tan damsel was productive. Crystal (again north of PG) can be good at dusk for some nice size Rainbows and Brook trout. Green wolley buggers worked well as the lake has a large stickleback population.

Heres a couple links for you;
