Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Subject: FN0328-COMMERCIAL - Groundfish: Area 12 - Non-Directed Lingcod Retention by Hook and Line Gear

Effective May 01, 2010, non-directed fishing for Lingcod by Hook and Line gear
is permitted until 23:59 hours, November 14, 2010, for the Rockfish Inside,
Halibut Inside and Directed Spiny Dogfish fisheries, in Subareas 12-1 to 12-13,
and 12-15 to 12-48.

In addition, the trip limit for Groundfish Management Area 4B Lingcod in the
Rockfish Inside, Spiny Dogfish and Halibut Inside fisheries has been decreased
from 800 lbs to 400 lbs per trip.

Commercial groundfish fishers are reminded that the following closures in
Groundfish Management Area 4B are still in effect:
1. Rockfish Conservation Areas:

Effective February 1, 2007 a new suite of Rockfish Conservation Areas (RCAs)
came into effect. Designation of the final 164 closed areas is a result of
over three years of consultation with many stakeholders. The RCAs can also be
downloaded from the Department's internet site at:http://www.pac.dfo-
mpo.gc.ca/recfish/Restricted_Areas/RCAs/default_e.htm

2. Strait of Georgia Lingcod:

Closed year-round in Areas 13 to 20, 28 and 29.

Vessels are reminded that they must request an amendment to their licence
conditions from the Groundfish Management Unit prior to fishing. Please fax
the amendment request form received at time of licence issuance to 604-666-
8525.

Variation Order No. 2010-217 in effect.
