Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada

Subject: FN0572-COMMERCIAL - Salmon: Troll - Application to Participate in the Area G WCVI Troll Sublegal Chinook Sampling Test Fishery

The Department is conducting a sampling test fishery on sublegal chinook off
WCVI in Area 123 by Area G trollers. The purpose is to investigate the stock
composition of legal and sub-legal chinook off Area 123. Area G licence holders
are invited to participate in this program by completing the "Application to
Participate". This application is available on the internet at:

or, at any DFO office.

Submit your application by faxing or mailing a paper copy to:

Applications will be received up to 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time,
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010. The successful applicant(s) will be contracted
by Fisheries and Oceans Canada to carry out the following required test fishing:

- Troll vessel(s) in Area 123 will be required to start as early as September
1, 2010. The vessel(s) will be required to carry out test fishing for, and DNA
sampling of, sublegal and legal Chinook salmon in areas 123 for approximately 3
to 5 days. All fish will be released. Vessel(s) will fish with standard Chinook
troll gear, possibly including plugs. A minimum of 8 hours of trolling per day
is required.

Obtaining an Application

- “Application to Participate” forms will be available at the following:

- “Application to Participate” forms can be picked up at any local DFO office.

Please note that applications MUST BE RECEIVED, NOT POST MARKED, by 2:00pm on
the closing date of August 18th, 2010.

All selections will reviewed by Fisheries & Oceans Canada. Tenders received
after the specified closing time will be returned unopened.
