Fishery Notice - Fisheries and Oceans Canada
Subject: FN0796-Salmon: Gillnet - Area E - Mid-Vancouver Island - Chum - Update
An assessment carried out yesterday indicates a total escapement to date in the
Nanaimo River of approximately 30,000 chum. The target escapement for the
system is 60,000 chum. Given the uncertainty in run strength, no fisheries
targeting Nanaimo River chum are planned for this week. The next update follows
the Chum Working Group meeting, Thursday, October 23.
